Version 2.7 of 3DSimED is released.

The addition of Flight Simulator X .mdl import means that gMax, the free download equivalent to 3DS Max V4, can now be used to interchange models with 3DSimED. You can download gMax from the Turbosquid website:- http://www.turbosquid.com/GameTools and you will also need the FSX gamepack which comes with FSX deluxe.

The other main headline is the fix for selecting geometry on NVidia cards.

There are a number of other enhancements and fixes.

Full details, a patch to update existing users to 2.7, and a new Demo are at http://www.sim-garage.co.uk

Cheers!

Dave Noonan

Thanks Dave, seems to work fine now. Interesting to add FSX support, I'll have to dig it back out I guess.

I'll give it a try as soon as I figure out how to get the FSX SDK to export MDL files. The FS2004 SDK seems to be working fine, but it's outdated.

Works well. Thanks.

There is a small problem with the mesh groups being rendered and the materials are renamed, but other than that, it works.

Hi David,

Love the work you have put into the 3DSimed and really like the feature you added for importing FSX files. A feature I would really like is if it is possible to export a track to a format that Bob's Track Builder could open.

Thanks again,
Dave

In the v2.6 thread I posted this (texture goes black when UV values are changed). I thought it had been fixed because when I tried merging tracks (where a minor step is to change some UV values) there were no problems with the textures.

But just now I tried some mapping elsewhere (the same place as the screenshot), and the problem was still there. I then noticed that it didn't affect the grass. I then tried modifying the track - that was affected.

It's something to do with the shader level for the material.
Kerb and track: "bump map, specular colour, t1" - texture problem
Grass: "t1 mul t2 add t3" - no texture problem.

When I changed the grass to the same shader as the kerb and track, it then picked up the problem.

It seems to happen with all the shaders whose names begin with "bump...". I checked about 5 of them, which I think is sufficient.

Hi all.
Black Bean has released few weeks ago V8 Superstars Next Challenge.
Luigi has released an update of msmixext in order to extract datas from the MIX files (http://aluigi.freeforums.org/post9366.html), but current version of 3DSimEd can't open the new BIN meshes.
Here is the Audi A4: http://www.opendrive.com/files/6188700_ ... /CAR01.rar
Could you please check this file and tell us if you may plan an update of the BIN filter?
I can post other BIN meshes if you want, just ask.
Thank you very much in advance.
