Lets say I have a track mesh loaded up in 3DSimED and want to edit the materials mapped to each face on the track surface, for example up near the wall, to use a newly named material, with different properties than the material in the main racing line.

I'm only given the 3 materials attached to this mesh to choose from. I've tried picking "No Material" so I could assign a new one later but that doesn't seem to work.

How can I add a new material to this interface so I can apply it to all of the faces in the area I've boxed in blue?

1) Create a new material with New on the Editing Materials dialog.
2) You should be able to select multiple faces holding down the left Ctrl key.
3) The context menu should include Replace Materials.
