Okay, I'm taking a shot at building a car for rFactor. I've built the basic geometry in 3dSimEd and I'm preparing to export it to 3DS to be imported into gmax. I have posted a screenshot of the vehicle. How does it look so far.

I'm trying to make it look like a modified NEXTEL Cup car (pre COT) with the spoiler being replaced with a wing and a front wing being added for extra speed in the corners. The rest of it should look somewhat like a NEXTEL Cup car.

Notes:
For the wings, I know that right now, they will just deflect the air. In order to increase the effectiveness, I will add a curve to the wings to make it look more like an upside-down airplane wing.

Once I import the model to gmax, I won't be able to export it back out. Any idea on a program and/or a plugin that I can use to get it back to the 3DS format?

Thats awsome. I wish I knew how to make 3d models.

A car with 2 wings. Interesting...

I got the idea from the Formula1 and IndyCar series. Except this time, I wanted it to resemble more of a stock car. Here's an updated screenshot of the vehicle in gmax.

When I first started modeling, I didn't know anything. But there are some tutorials on how to make 3D models and manipulate them to turn out the way you want them to.

By the way, how does the car look so far?

Why should it go? The view isn't blocked by it and it'll allow you to turn the corners a lot better than any other stock car.

By the way, I finally got the wheel slots put in.

EDIT: I've decided to make some upgrade options for the car. One for the rear wing and one for the front wing. It could be interesting how each upgrade responds to each type of track. There will also be different tire compounds and engines depending on the type of track you are at.

I made wheel slots in the car that can hold 24-inch tires. But I want wheel slots big enough to hold 36-inch tires. How would I increase the size of the wheel slots without disrupting the geometry of the vehicle?

I would probably create a separate cylinder that was sized correctly for the wheel openings, position it, and use it as a guide. Then on the main model I'd use the edge cut tool and edge turn tool to create your new opening once you remove the extraneous faces created by the cutting/turning.

Actually it's a wing in the front and a wing in the back. Kind of like an indy car or F1 car, only it's a full body stock car style shape.

I was entertained by your answer FWIW.

Thanks, cause that's all it was. A joke. Good thing I didn't ask if it had 2 sets of rear tail lights. :hmmm:

The Griswold Wagon Queen Family Truckster Mod? Interesting idea. You'd need a track with a big ramp at the end of course.
