Running the Race General Rules
-results for each segment will only be accepted between the proper dates outline on the schedule
In the event a car becomes damaged beyond repair (ie. blown engine) the driver must exit the race, save the standings and that segment is deemed as over. Submit the standings file and the team will be issued a new track.txt file for the next segment. This file will have a number of laps taken out to simulate the time to repair the damage. The team must restart the next segment as a new race from the back of the field using this new file.
The Race Start and Saving Segments
Before starting the race the first driver must create a new race save file. To do this, load up a race at Bull Run with the race settings and run a new qualifying session. Your times here mean nothing, the reason for this is so teams can switch from their qualifying setup to race trim. After the session exit and save the race. Return to windows and apply the qord order file. For info on how to use qord click here.
To start the race the driver that qualified the car loads the saved race by choosing "YES" when prompted to restore the race in Nascar 2. At the end of each of the first three segments the driver must pull the car into the pits for service and exit the race. Go to the replay screen and let it run to the end so the total time run is shown. (time is on bottom right of screen) Make a note of the time and exit from the race menu choosing "YES" to save the race. Return to Windows (or your operating system) and find the file in the Bullrun track directory named racesave.bin. Rename the file XXYY.bin where XX is the team's car number and YY is the segment that has just been finished. Zip the file and attach to an email and send to sts@ican.net. The subject line of the email should read "1000-Segment #__ Your team name. In the body of the email state the driver's name, number of laps completed and the race time from the replay. Also send the file to the next driver. To run the next segment this driver will rename the file racesave.bin and place it in the Bull Run track directory of Nascar 2. When the race is loaded the driver chooses "YES" to resume the race. The driver will find himself in the pits and ready to continue with the driver change complete.
The Final Segment
If you win your local race skip to number 2, if not use number 1 1) If you're running on the lead lap but not in first place at the checkered flag exit the race immediately as you cross the start/finish line. Save the standings which will display your time behind the leader. Next, return to the race and proceed to step two.
2) Take the checkered flag and continue around until the race is completely over. If you are not sure about this, make sure the race ending screen shot comes up when you exit. Save both the race standings and a replay of the entire last lap. Exit the race.
3) Address and email to sts@ican.net with the subject line the same format as the previous three rounds. In the body of the email paste the race standings. Note that if you did not win your local race you will have two race standings files. Paste them both into the email. Hold on to the replay until results become official as you may be asked to submit it.
General Guidelines Be prepared, do some team testing to work out the file transfer glitches and team strategy. Things to think about are who's going to qualify and start the race, how many laps are we going to run each segment to make sure we finish? The list goes on and on. Be sure to run some tests with the racesave and make sure file transfer is ok. In the event a racesave file is lost in transfer or for whatever reason a new txt file will be issued with the proper number of laps to resume and finish the race. However, the team will have to start from the back of the field.
-race Time
-cars on the lead lap will be scored by their own race time
-cars not on the lead lap will be scored by the race leader's race time.
-when complete save the full replay of your final lap (does not have to be the fastest, just the final lap)
-the elapsed time in the bottom right of the replay screen may not exceed 30 minutes
-zip the replay and submit it to sts@ican.net
-each driver gets only one attempt at qualifying the car, no reruns.
The race consists of four segments with each driver saving the race at the end of each segment. The following rules apply:
-no driver may run more than 52 laps per segment
-no driver may run two or more segments in a row
-all driver changes must take place in the pits.
-one race save per segment
Saving the final segment is important. Follow these guidelines to ensure the race can be scored properly.
