Requirements
Registration
Oct 10th - Nov 9thSponsorship: This year we will be requesting that drivers get sponsorship. Sponsorship is where someone agrees to pay a driver a certain amount of money per lap. Besides paying for trophies, the remainder of the money will be donated to either the Red Cross, or to a charity for the victims of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. Each driver may bring a sponsor for the car, and the sponsor only needs to pay for the amount of laps that his driver competes. Drivers do NOT have to have a sponsor to compete. It is recommended that the car paint scheme incorperate the drivers' sponsors. As drivers attempt to gain sponsors for the car, insure that the sponsor is aware of the number of laps (86 for race 1, 85 for race 2) as well as get the amount that the sponsor plans to contribute per lap. Sponsors MAY donate for the total laps run by both drivers if they wish, as well as set a minimum amount that they intend to contribute.
Schedule of Events
Registration - Oct 10th - Nov 9thThis year the drivers will compete in two separate races, with one driver competing in race 1, the other driver in race 2. Since this year is completely online, there will not be driver swaps, or segments...each driver will have to attempt to run the full distance of each race (86 laps for race one, 85 for race 2). Each race should run approximately for 3 hours.
Race Classes and Scoring
There are two classes for the race, Class A and Class B. Although both will be racing at the same time, these two divisions will be scored separately. A driver may be registered to drive a car in both races so long as that driver is not racing in the same car for both days. Note that one driver will drive the first race (day), the second driver will drive the second race (day), and the overall outcome of both driver's efforts counts towards the overall win.Final race results will be scored by the following method:
All regular TPTCC rules pertaining to racing conduct will be enforced: two tires must remain on the track at all times. Mistakes will happen and cause you to go off track, but intentional shortcuts are not allowed.
The Races
This is a long race, so be prepared. It will be a total of about three hours, the only break that anyone gets is in the pits! (Or if you crash). Due to the length of the race and difficulty of the track, as well as wanting to keep as many drivers in as possible, the damage will be set to arcade.
Pull OFF the track if you crash, and insure drivers know that you are very slow. If you are in a dangerous position (where attempting to drive on the track could cause another driver to crash), get a tow by using the keys "ALT-I". Do NOT jeopardize other driver's races by pulling a stupid move.
IF there is a massive connection drop that ejects all the drivers from the server, the race will restart on the last lap completed. The restart will be behind the pace car. Cars that were laps down will have those laps assessed at the end of the day by comparing the two race saves.
If your connection gets dropped, go back and hang out in Echo...you may find that you'll be able to rejoin the race later. You probably don't have to hang out for the entire 3 hours, but you may want to hang out for a bit just in case quite a few people got dumped. I will allow cars back that have been out for awhile if we have a restart later, so try to keep track of email (from TPTCC Yahoo-groups) as I'll have someone send a quick message and we'll hold for 10 minutes.
Be Prepared
Be prepared, do some testing to work out the team strategy. How many laps are we going to run between each pit stop? Don't leave any questions until the last minute. If you're not sure about anything post a message to the Yahoo Groups.
